Russia warns against instability in Sudan MOSCOW, July 25 (KUNA) -- The Russian Federation warned on Friday against political tensions and instability in Sudan if an arrest warrant is issued for Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir by the International Criminal Court (ICC). Russian News Agency (Interfax) quoted diplomatic sources as saying that such a warrant by the ICC would increase tensions and instability in Sudan. Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that his country will follow closely developments concerning Darfur crisis, particularly during UN Security Council deliberations on the issue. The Russian minister expressed support to the prosecution of criminals who commit crimes against humanity, however noting as well that other vital concerns must be taking into consideration regarding stability in the trouble region.
