5.8 million dollar grant from Japan to Sudan to improve child health care

Khartoum, Aug. 12 (SUNA) - The Government of Japan has extended a grant of 5.8 million dollars to the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) in contribution to improve the situation of children health in Sudan as well as to ward off communicable diseases in the country. The announcement of the Japanese Grant was made officially in a celebration held at the Federal Ministry of Health in presence of the Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Thabita Boutros, and the Japanese Ambassador to Sudan, Yuichi Ishii and the Representative of UNICEF in Sudan Ted Chaiban. The Minister of Health lauded in her statement at the occasion the efforts being exerted by UNICEF with regard to the improvement of the health situations of children and thanked the Government of Japan over the continuous support in this regard. The Japanese Ambassador, Yuichi Ishii, affirmed the commitment of his country to contribute to the efforts to combat the communicable diseases all over the Sudan. He explained that the Government of Japan has been supporting the children disease-prevention efforts through the UNICEF since 2000. The Representative of UNICEF thanked the Government of Japan over its continuous support to the primary health care programmes and improvement of the children health care services in Sudan.
