Sudan''s Bashir issues new decrees for Darfur KHARTOUM, Jan 21 (KUNA) -- Sudanese President Hassan Al-Bashir issued here on Wednesday a number of decrees regarding the situation in Darfur. The decrees, included the formation of three committees, would look into the development of the social, economic, and political sectors in Darfur and would also be focusing into spreading security and peace there. One of the Presidential decrees called for increasing the numbers of states in Darfur through conducting studies on the demographic, economic, cultural, and political structures of the region. The three committees are given three months to finish their missions. Since 2003, the Darfur region has been plagued by an armed conflict between the government and rebels. Local and regional efforts to clam-down the situation had failed to reach a final settlement on the issue. |
